THE STATEMENT OF The XVIth International Contest Of Children's Handwritten book

The Murmansk State Regional Children and Youth’s library, Culture and Art Committee of the Murmansk region, the Committee on Education, the Committee on natural resources and environmental protection, forestry, cooperation public organization and youth’s affairs of the Murmansk region, the Representative for the Children’s Rights, the Regional Center of indigenous people of the North, the Murmansk Administration, the Administration of the Terskij Region, the Murmansk regional publishing house, the Regional Council of Russian association of environmental protection, Murmansk regional organization Union of Russian writers, the Murmansk Fund of the municipal social programs’ realization, the Murmansk and Monchegorsk Church Department of the Moscow patriarchate, the General Royal Norwegian Consulate in Murmansk, the Murmansk department of the General Consulate of Finland in Saint-Petersburg, the General Royal Swedish Consulate in Saint-Petersburg, atomic energy info center of atomic icebreaker "Lenin", LLC "Logistics-Service", Murmansk Regional Philharmonic by support of the Governor of Murmansk region announce the XVI-th International Contest of children’s handwritten book.

1.Organization and conditions

1.1. The contest starts on the 15th of November 2012 in the Murmansk Regional Children and Youth’s library.

1.2. Pupils and students (up to 21), families, creative associations, study groups, studios, libraries, author’s collectives and collectives of authors, children’s creativity centers, children’s art schools, children’s schools of art and other children’s organizations all over the territories of the Barents region and the other countries can participate in the contest.

Preschoolers can participate only in special nomination.

1.3. The contest is presented by: poems, stories, fairy-tales, essays, travelers’ notes, true or fantastic stories, legends, tales, and stories about the life of your family, your close and distant ancestors.

1.4. The following nominations appear in competition:

  • Family book;
  • The kindergarten writes the books about itself and children;
  • Let’s save nature together (to the Year of the environmental protection);
  • My strong little nation (native people of Kola Peninsula);
  • My favorite city;
  • We create our future together (to 20 years of the cooperation in the Barents Euro-Arctic region).

1.5. The working group formed of the founders of the contest solves the problems of organizing and carrying out the contest.

1.6. A competitive book must have size no more than A3 and include a cover, a title page, the content, the main information about the author and illustrator (surname, name, age, school, grade, city and country). It should be secure for reading.

2. Summing up

2.1. Materials will be accepted by children’s libraries from cities, towns and districts and passed to the scientific and methodic department of the Murmansk Regional Children and Youth’s library until the 1st of March 2013 after they have been looked through and selected at the local level.

2.2. Professional skills, originality, the quality of design are appreciated by the jury which consists of the representatives of the organizers.

2.3. Summing up results of the contest will take place in Murmansk on the 29th of April 2013 at the Young Writers’ Festival at the Murmansk Regional Philharmonic.

2.4. Only winners of the contest in different nominations and their supporters are invited to the festival.

2.5. The Statement of the Contest and the Invitation for the Final Festival in Murmansk are the ground for sending participants to the Festival in Murmansk.

2.6. The sending side covers participants’ journey to Murmansk for the Final Festival and other expenses.

2.7. A competitive book is given to the Museum of Children’s Handwritten book, which is based in the Murmansk Regional Children and Youth’s library.

3. Awarding

3.1. The winners are awarded by:

  • The Grand -Prize of Murmansk region Governor;
  • Prize "The Small Triumph";
  • Diplomas and prizes from the prize fund of each founder;
  • Audience Choice Award.

3.2. Participants are awarded by letters of thanks.

3.3. Other participants’ awarding takes place in Central children’s libraries of towns and regions after the Young Writers’ Festival had been carried out.
